 RE:      Broadcasting Scholarship Program for Kentucky College and

             University Students

We are pleased to announce the 15th year of the Harry Barfield KBA Scholarship Program for aspiring young broadcasters.  In the spring of 2006, the Kentucky Broadcasters Association will award $1,000 scholarships ($1,000 for the junior year, renewable for the senior year) to college or university students (preferably, but not limited to, second-semester sophomore status) in Kentucky. 

Students at your school are invited to apply for these scholarships.

The recipients will be chosen from among students who are majoring

in broadcasting or telecommunications, or who are planning to major

in broadcasting or telecommunications, at a college or university in Kentucky. 

These scholarships are not awarded on the basis of need, but in the case of equal merit-based qualifications, other scholarships which the student might have or financial considerations would be the determining factor in selecting the scholarship award winners. 

We ask that you give the enclosed applications and guidelines to interested students majoring in telecommunications or broadcasting so that they may apply for this scholarship. 

PLEASE NOTE: The application for this scholarship can be accessed online by going to: www.kba.org.                                                                            

Please copy the application and other forms for use by as many students in your school as are interested in applying; have those students complete all information; have a faculty member prepare a recommendation for the student; and return all of this by May 19, 2006 to:

A duplicate copy of the application and other forms must be sent to the

broadcasting or telecommunications department chair at the applicant's college or university.
