Joint News Release

From The

Kentucky Broadcasters Association

And The

Traffic Directors Guild of America

Frankfort, Kentucky – January 28, 2004 -- The Kentucky Broadcasters Association (KBA) and the Traffic Directors Guild of America (TDGA) have entered into a joint arrangement whereby KBA will underwrite TDGA membership for all Traffic Department personnel in all of its member Radio and Television stations during the coming year. This is the first time a state broadcasters association has undertaken such a major cross-membership program, with a 100 percent fiscal commitment.

KBA announced the action, following their first Board of Directors Meeting of 2004, from their Frankfort headquarters building. Commercial Radio, Television and Public Radio-TV Traffic Departments are all included in the joint membership offer and is seen as a significant move to foster on going educational and service programs for its member stations.

“We're committed to strengthening the high level of credibility and accountability between Broadcasters in the state and the Advertisers and Underwriters that support them, commented Gary White, President and Chief Executive Officer of KBA (Kentucky Broadcasters Association). “We want Kentucky Traffic Department personnel to be among the best trained and well educated in the country, and we're pleased to work with TDGA in sharing their pool of resources and educational programs with our members. Our goal is to provide our member stations with the tools needed to be highly effective professionals who continue to deliver results for their clients."

“The KBA has shown an extraordinary commitment to its membership and to its belief in the TDGA mission,” noted TDGA Chief Executive Officer Larry Keene. “We are proud that several major broadcast groups and corporations have committed to membership for their Traffic Departments, but this is the first state association to demonstrate such an outstanding leadership role in providing such a cost-free service to their member stations.”

"KBA has hosted three Traffic Director Roadshow Seminars in the past year, and we look forward to working with KBA in their leadership role in closing the so-called 'Accountability Gap' for all of their Stations during 2004. They've already taken a significant step," added Keene.

KBA Member Stations will be receiving full information directly from the Kentucky Broadcasters office in Frankfort. For additional information, please contact Gary White or Patti Pullen at 1-888-THE-KBA1, or kba@mis.net. KBA Invites your participation in it’s latest fully-funded Member Service

A One-Year Membership for your Traffic Department Personnel

In TDGA – The Traffic Directors Guild of America,

Compliments of the Kentucky Broadcasters Association

Good Morning from Frankfort:

The KBA Board of Directors is pleased to announce their approval of a brand new, cost-free-to-you service from your State Association. We have made arrangements with the Traffic Directors Guild of America to include your Traffic Department personnel as members of TDGA for a one-year period, ending March 31, 2005.

TDGA is a national association with its membership approaching the 5,000 mark and is comprised of Traffic Directors, Traffic Managers, Business Managers, Office Managers and other persons involved in either Program Log Scheduling and/or Billing/Accounts Receivable operations at Commercial Radio Stations, Public Stations and Television Stations. Their focus is on areas so frequently overlooked by other national broadcast associations. (By the way, we should stress that TDGA is not a union, but rather uses the word “Guild” to signify the professional status being afforded Traffic personnel.)

Their resources, tools and publications assist Traffic, Management and Sales personnel on a daily basis. KBA has presented three seminars in cooperation with TDGA in the past year, and we are impressed with the caliber of service they provide.

While we would be delighted to say—every member of your station is included, that would be abusing the arrangement we’ve been able to secure on your behalf with TDGA. Consequently, we must limit participation with your Traffic Department and/or Billing/Accts. Receivable personnel.

There are two key items in your Stations accepting this cost-free-to-you program from KBA.

1.   You must submit a Membership Application Form. (Included in this e-Cast). The form must go through our offices to qualify for inclusion in the special funding program. (Do not submit the form directly to TDGA.) You will not be included in this program without submitting the special attached form to KBA.

2.   If you are already a current, dues paying, member of TDGA. Many Kentucky Stations have staff members that may have paid their own individual membership dues. (Either by personal check, credit card or direct to TDGA station payments.), KBA will fund a cost-free-to-you extension on their behalf through March 31, 2005, at our expense. Again, a membership form must be submitted to KBA, as this is not an automatic extension of membership dates.

If you are not familiar with the services provided by TDGA, we invite you to visit their website at www.tdga.org, or we can arrange for materials to be e-mailed to your attention in either PDF (Adobe Reader) or Word.doc formats, directly from TDGA offices, near San Diego.
