  PEPHeading

PEP stands for Public Education Partnership. Through this program the KBA arranges placement of the sponsor's PEP announcements on radio and television stations throughout every market of the state. Broadcasters generously contribute their best available unsold time to air the PEP announcements providing the sponsoring agencies with time slots that are varied. Station participation in the KBA PEP program is voluntary.

Almost all KBA stations donate airtime for the PEP program and air the schedules based upon a monthly insertion order that they receive from the KBA.  The PEP announcements are identified on the station logs as PEP as they are neither paid commercials nor public service announcements. They are a unique entity unto themselves.

The KBA staff works as a team to ensure that all PEP campaigns are successful.  Our sponsors receive monthly reports from the KBA that summarize the participating station proof of performance affidavits.

  • Government agencies and non-profit organizations are eligible for the PEP program.

  • These organizations make a payment of funds to the KBAKBA then requests its members to run PEP announcements voluntarily at no charge for the benefit of KBA programs.

  • Announcements supplied by the PEP client are distributed by the KBA to participating stations.  Stations run the announcements on an as available basis and send monthly no charge, exact time performance affidavit to KBA.

  • Stations are requested to value the time provided based on their regular rates charged to advertisers buying the same time periods for cash.  The KBA uses these figures to demonstrate to the PEP client the cash value of the spots delivered across the entire state by both radio and television participants.

  • The PEP program provides a win-win result for participating KBA members whose Association grows stronger and for the PEP client whose message is seen and heard statewide in all time periods and formats reaching all demographic groups.
